Cobbett Tail - A self guided walking trailaround Botley
Follow the footsteps of Botley's most famous resident, William Cobbett, who lived in Botley from 1805-1820, combining his passion for farming with his role as oneof the foremost political journalists of his time. This gentle new walk guides visitors around Botley village, which William Cobbett described as "the most delightful village in the world. It has everything in a village I love and none of the things I hate."

Long Distance Strawberry Trail
The Strawberry Trail route is a long distance self guided walking trail and stretches from Botley through to Netley. The trail goes across farmland and through woodland as well and the total circular route is approx. 15 miles, although feel free to start or stop at any point. The leaflet also details the river bus, which runs June to September, and passes through Hamble foreshore, Manor Farm Country Park and Swanick Marina - when tide and space permits, it will also stop at the Jolly Sailor pub! Hamble Rail Trail
The Hamble Rail Trail - an easy 4.5 mile walk along a disused railway track which was built towards the end of WW1 to transport aircraft from Manchester to Hamble. The trail links Hamble Common, Royal Victoria Country Park, the Solent Way and the long distance Strawberry Trail. Guided Walks
If you prefer to be led on a walk, join a Hamble Valley Tour Guide
on a seasonal (April to September) guided walk through the parishes
and villages of Hamble Valley. These are very popular and will give
you an insight into the history of the area with stories of famous
associations, the impact of local industry (including strawberry
growing, shipbuilding, railways and aviation) and local peculiarities,
stories and legends. They are generally gentle walks, lasting about
