Premature Lamb wears a hand-knitted jumper at Manor Farm Country ParkPosted on: 10th Feb 12 ![]() This little lamb needs a bit of extra help getting cosy in the icy February weather. The newborn Dorset Horn, born at Manor Farm, arrived a bit earlier than expected and farm staff feared she might suffer in the cold winter chill. But with the help of one of the farm's volunteers, she is now the proud owner of a hand knitted woolly jumper.
The clever knitter, Hilary, used a knitting pattern for a Chihuahua dog coat to create the cosy masterpiece, which luckily fits baby Snowflake like a glove.
Snowflake, named for this week’s wintery weather, is the first lamb to arrive on the farm this year, marking the start of the busy lambing season which will continue right through to summer. She was one of a set of twins, but her sibling sadly didn’t make it. Fortunately Snowflake is getting stronger and healthier by the day, and is ready to meet visitors.
Manor Farm will be open throughout the February half term, 11th-19th February, 10am-4pm. |
