Bursledon Brickworks Industrial Museum is all set to become one of the key visitor attractions in the South. The only remaining steam driven brickworks in the country we show how brick making made the leap from small scale production to 20 million bricks a year.
The fully restored and working machinery helped us to win the coveted Institute of Mechanical Engineering Heritage Award in 2011 and on Open Days we can show it all running as it was when it ceased producing bricks. On site you can see the patented method adopted to dry the bricks and the huge kiln block that was used to fire them ready for collection. The museum has other clay based collections on site and lots of opportunities on offer which makes a visit both enjoyable and educational.

Directions:

Swanwick Lane is off A27 opposite Swanwick Marina signposted by brown heritage road signs.

Opening times:

The museum is now open on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday regularly with special events etc. Entrance fee: Adults £3, concessions £2, accompanied child £1.

Also open Sunday Open Days (see attached for 2011 dates) 10am until 4pm. Admission charges Adult £5, concessions £4, accompanied child £2. Family (2 adults + 2 children) £12

Go Ape is a tree top adventure based in the heart of Itchen Valley Country Park, nr Eastleigh. We take one lush, green forest and a healthy dollop of breathtaking scenery; blend with a smattering of tree-top high wires, tricky crossings and wind-in-your-face zip wires; finished off with a liberal dose of people in search of their inner Tarzan.
